Nancy Hajek

Choir and Glory Tones Director

   Nancy Hajek is the Music Director for New Life Methodist Church.  She directs the
Chancel Choir and the Glory Tones Handbell Choir.
   She is a La Grange native and began her love of music in the third grade with her first
singing solo.  She began ringing handbells in sixth grade. She was selected as the
John Phillip Sousa award winner her senior year of high school band.  She continued
her musical studies at Texas Lutheran College (now University) as a music education
major and studied under Dr. Sigurd Christiansen.  She was a member of the college
band and college choir, where she held several offices.
   After graduation, she returned to her hometown and worked as a choir and handbell
director for over 40 years.  In addition, she taught at Sacred Heart School and La
Grange Intermediate School for thirty years.  She also formed and directed The Fayette
County Chorale, a community choir, for nine years, presenting Christmas and Spring
concerts every year.  Her passion is continuing the tradition of choral music.
    In her spare time, she volunteers at Second Chance Emporium, the local resale shop,
as one of the coordinators for New Life Methodist and as Vice President of the
organization.
