Hitting the Mark: Launching Our New Youth Archery Ministry at New Life Methodist
We’re excited to announce a brand-new ministry at New Life Methodist—our very own Youth Archery Program! This initiative isn’t just about learning to shoot arrows. It’s about helping young people grow in confidence, focus, and character within a supportive Christian community.

Why Archery?
Archery is more than a sport. For kids and teens, it’s a hands-on way to build strength, patience, and self-discipline. The skills they develop—steady focus, goal-setting, perseverance—serve them long after they leave the range. Archery is also an inclusive activity, open to all abilities and personalities. Kids who might not connect with traditional team sports often find a home on the archery range, where personal progress is just as important as competition.

What Is an Archery Program?
Our program will provide safe, structured instruction in the basics of archery—everything from handling equipment to aiming and shooting at targets. Safety is always our top priority. We’ll be using resources and guidance from USA Archery, the national governing body for the sport, to ensure best practices for both learning and fun.

Why Are We Reaching Out?
To launch this ministry, we need adults who are interested in becoming trained instructors. No archery experience is required—just a heart for kids and a willingness to learn. Training will be provided by Barry Watson, a certified instructor trainer. Barry will walk you through everything you need to know to help our kids thrive, both on and off the range.

Join Us in Making a Difference
If you’re looking for a new way to invest in our church’s children and youth, consider joining the Archery Ministry as an instructor. It’s a unique opportunity to build relationships, teach valuable life skills, and help our young people “hit the mark”—in archery and in life.
