House of David

House of David is the focus of a new sermon series and Bible study starting on Wednesday, September 10. Dinner will be provided.

   In September, we begin a new sermon series and Bible study on the "House of David."  Why David?  He is one of the most complex and relatable people in the Bible.  He was a shepherd, a warrior, a poet, and a king.  Scripture even describes David as a man after God's own heart, yet he was far from perfect.  His story is full of triumph and tragedy, or courageous faith and deep repentance.
   The Bible study begins on September 10 with what is called: WEDNESDAY NITE LIVE.   The church will provide a dinner (with doors opening at 5:00pm.)  We will then watch an episode of Amazon's series titled, "House of David," starting at 5:50pm and follow up with a Bible study.
    Join us in worship and at Wednesday Nite Live as we move toward a deeper encounter with the God who met Gavid in every season of his life.  There's a seat at the table for you!

About the Author

Andy Smith

    Andy joined New Life Methodist Church as pastor in July 2019, bringing with him a heart for ministry and more than two decades of experience.  His journey as a pastor began back in 1999 with his first appointment in Flatonia.  Since then, he’s served congregations in Media Valley (Castroville), Gonzales, and Manchaca. 
    Born in Tampa, Florida, Andy spent his childhood moving between Tennessee, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky.  He graduated from Centenary College of Louisiana in 1994 with a degree in Christian Education.  Before stepping into pastoral ministry, Andy worked as a youth director in Shreveport, San Marcos, and Elgin, Texas.
     Andy earned his Master of Divinity from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1999—graduating alongside his wife, Rev. Monica Smith, who now serves as pastor at First Presbyterian Church in Giddings, Texas.  Together, Andy and Monica are raising two high schoolers, Anna and Rachel, who keep them laughing and on their toes.  In his spare time Andy enjoys watching a good auto race, flying his drone, watching Anna ride horses, and seeing Rachel grow as an ice skating.
